Soapbox Science brings the UK's best female academics together to stand on their soapboxes and shout about what they know and love - science. They've been running successful science communication events since 2011 and now have them all over the UK, from London to Ireland. Follow them on twitter to keep up to date on their upcoming events. Dr Nicola Hemmings is a researcher and lecturer at The University of Sheffield, currently specialising in sperm transport and sperm selection in birds. She's been at Sheffield University since she started her undergraduate degree in 2003, and has won the hearts of many - in 2011 she won the Animal & Plant Sciences teacher of the year. More recently, she won the Society of Biology award for science communication - follow her to keep up with all things scicomm!
