Final event of the year... Dr. Katie Fields

For the APS Femwork’s final event of the year, we’re excited to announce that Dr. Katie Field from the University of Sheffield will be joining us to talk about her research career. Her CV is jammed packed, and we’re sure she’s got tonnes to tell us about her time at Sheffield and her hopes for the future.

After completing her bachelor’s degree in Plant Sciences at the University of Durham, Katie went on to do a PhD at Sheffield, using an environmental metabolomics approach to study the genetic diversity in plants. She’s remained at UoS ever since, becoming a research assistant and postdoctoral research associate before earning a Patrick and Irwin-Packington Fellowship in 2015. More recently, she has accepted an Academic Fellowship in Plant-Soil Processes at the University of Leeds - a really fantastic opportunity that she’ll be starting in August.

Katie’s main research interests include plant-microbe symbioses, involving recent work focussing on basal plant-symbiotic fungi and liverwort associations, along with plant evolution, environmental metabolomics and plant ecophysiology.

As you can tell, Katie has an enormous amount of experience and this is your chance to get to know her a little better, find out how she’s gotten to where she is and ask any advice about how you can do the same!
